Durham Seniors Social Center, a not for profit organization that has been serving seniors, elderly and disabled communities in Pickering for a few years now. Their commitment to the well-being of their clients deserves recognition and support.
Our Vision
To establish a non profit organization so as to reach out to the community of Durham for their healthy psychosocial well being through training, Workshops, Social Connections, Awareness & Recreational activities and to empower Women & priority populations for sustainability through Education, Employment, Welfare & Social services.
Reshma Khan
I am Reshma Khan, and I've been volunteering for over 2 decades in our and nearing communities. I have a passion for community work and social services. I have experience working with special needs kids and parents who are socially and physically challenged.
My Achievements:
- I was a girl guide and land rover in India.
- Community Member Award (April 29, 2001) by the Toronto Police Service Board.
- Royal Canadian Humane Association Award. (February 26 2001)
- Achieve Diploma, (October 22 , 2015) Pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies from Oxford College of Arts, Business and Technology - Toronto Ontario.
- Achieve Diploma from Ultimate Academy of Toronto, Ontario (February 23, 2018), A Certified Home Stager and Re-designer.
- Commendation Award. (April 17 2003) [Governor General of Canada for Community Outstanding Work]
- Queen's Platinum Jubilee Award. (October 3 2022) [For Civic Engagement Community Service]
- Life Saving Award. (September 20, 2000) [St. John Ambulance]
- Certificate of Completion. (May 30, 2022) [Ontario Human Rights Code] [Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act]
- Received Pleasure Craft Operator Card (October 18, 2023) Certificate by BOATERExam.
- (November, 15 2023) Complete CPR Training.

Durham Seniors Social Center has been providing vital services to the community for years, including health, wellness and social programs. These programs have helped seniors stay independent and connected, and have made a massive impact on their quality of life.
